Let’s talk about this app in detail and understand why Apple would launch it when there is already an app for music lovers called Apple Music for their iOS devices.
Apple Music Classical Was Previously Called Primephonic:
Yes, you heard that right.
Primephonic was a service that was launched as a classical music streaming platform in the U.S. in 2017 where users can listen to their favorite classical music by paying a monthly fee of $7.99.
Artists of these classical songs were compensated by how long a user consumed their tracks in minutes and hours.
However, in 2021, Apple acquired Primephonic for an undisclosed amount. They shut down the service on September 2021 as they were planning to launch a standalone app for classical music lovers in the next year i.e, 2022.
The plans didn’t go well, and the app couldn’t launch in 2022 for some unknown reasons, but it is ready to get launch in March 2023 and is ready to pre-order from the App Store.
There is no confirmation of how Apple will compensate the artists; we have to wait and see about that.
Those who may have doubted why Apple is launching such a classical music app will now understand that it is based on Primephonic, and the content of this app is mostly from Primephonic.
If you have already used Primephonic, how cool will the Apple Music Classical be when it gets launched with a new name, Right?
How Much Is The Apple Music Classical App Going To Cost?
If you already subscribe to Apple Music with any plan (Individual, Student, Family) or Apple One, you can access Apple Music Classical free of cost.
Yes, you read it right. Simply download and install the Apple Music Classical app, and you can get started with the app.
Unfortunately, this app will work with the Apple Music Voice Plan. You’ll have to subscribe to Apple Music or Apple One to use this app; there is no other way.
