I’m sharing this list based on the 2024 Global Peace Index (GPI), calculated based on countries’ peacefulness comprising 23 quantitative and qualitative indicators. The Lower GPI is, the safer the country is. Let’s jump to the list and see what are of those countries.

Iceland has ranked at #1 position as the safest country in the world for the 15th time by the Global Peace Index. This small country has a population of 373k and an extremely low crime rate than any other country. Ranking in this position as the safest country in the world isn’t so easy, but this country has made it look easy.
Iceland has a few rare qualities that many countries lack, such as religious freedom, equal pay for both men and women, a high standard of living, and legalized same-sex marriage. You will be shocked to know that Ireland has no military force. Yes, you heard it right. Only the police force keeps their country safe, and only a few of those police carry firearms with them.
