Pennywise The Dancing Clown On The Possible Of ‘It Chapter 3’
A long time ago in September 2019, Bill Skarsgård did talk about the possibility of another movie. He mentioned that the story could take a different approach and delve into the history of Pennywise. Watching the origin story of Pennywise would be interesting.
He remarked, “It would have to be the right type of approach to it. The book ends where the second movie ends, so that is the final chapter of this story. There is this interesting aspect of going back in time before all this happened. There might be a story there that might be worth exploring.Thatt would be a story that’s not in the book, it would be a freestanding story, but obviously within the same universe. So, there might be something interesting about it. I think it would be fun.”
After a few months, Dauberman also discussed the possibility of another movie. “I do think it’s possible. Anything in the Stephen King Universe interests me, but we can tell only so much of the story in the two movies.
There are elements of the novel you could expand on and make it a movie. It’s just a question of whether or not people want to see it. I think It was on this planet for a very, very, very long time, and that’s a lot of bloodshed and many stories to tell, and I think you could do that for sure.” But it’s been a long time since there have been talks about another movie. It’s a hard call to make!
What About A Potential Prequel Series Of ‘It’?
Though there are not many updates regarding a third film, there’s a possibility of a potential prequel series. According to sources, Muschiettis and Jason Fuchs confirmed that a series is in development in 2022. The series is titled ‘Welcome to Derry’ and will take place in the 1960s.
The series’ story will take place before ‘It: Chapter One’ happens. Along with that, the report will also include the mysterious backstory of Pennywise the Dancing Clown! Stephen King confirmed that he’s not involved in making this series but is looking forward to watching it.
He confirmed, “Well, I don’t have a relationship to Pennywise now because I have no intention of going back to IT… it’s in the hands of the people who are doing this… Andy and Barbara [Muschietti] will do ‘Welcome to Derry,’. They’re talking about it anyway. And they’ve got sort of a handshake deal, I think, with HBO Max.
It’s an interesting possibility to do that. They talked about a prequel, which struck me as an okay idea. I’d love to see what Pennywise was up to 27 years before the ’50s. Or, I guess it would be the ’80s because they updated the [setting]. So it would be, you know, before World War 2 or something. It’ll be interesting to see what will happen with that.”
Then recently in March 2023, Bill Skarsgård confirmed that he’s also not involved in the development. He said, “As of now, I’m not currently involved with it. If someone else gets to do it, I would advise: Do it on your own. Make it your own. Have fun with it. What I found pleasurable about that character is how abstract he was.”
